Timbers

Here's a bunch of pics of the timberframing process. Covered here are a few of the steps in cutting the dovetails in the floor joists as well as the timber cart in action and the beastly 16" circular saw. Enjoy!

Subfloor and Backfilling Complete.

Floor System # 1.

7 days, 66 2x10 floor joists, 128 feet of ring joist, 90 joist hangers, 52 feet of 6x10 laminated beam, 224 pieces of bridging and about 2000 nails. Plywood tomorrow!

Basement walls

Here are some shots of the first bit of framing. We played around with the window arrangement in the concrete "drops" and spent a fair bit of time working everything out but we managed to get the basement walls up without too much problem. Main beams, box sill and floor system next!

Timberframing assistance.

This is Idgy my unlikely helper. She's old and occasionally grumpy. She's pretty cute but not much of a lifter... great for moral support though.
