Adventures in timber framing

This past weekend I had the absolute pleasure of helping to erect a timber frame addition to a century old farmhouse owned by two close friends. The frame was built by hand by Richard Cormier of Wise Owl Joinery in Port Williams Nova Scotia. Follow the link in the sidebar to see more of his work! After weeks of work in his shop, Richard traveled to Big Bras D'or to spend a drizzly Saturday putting up this beautiful structure. I wouldn't have missed this opportunity for the world! This was first-hand experience that brought some reality to the countless hours I've spent thinking and reading about timber framing over the past several years. Thanks Big Wheels!!
